Thank you for visiting my website. On this page, I will be posting information regarding technology at Warren Hills. Technology continues to play an increasingly crucial role in K-12 education, and we strive to keep Warren Hills at the cutting edge. Between the two schools, we currently maintain over 1,000 desktop and laptop computers for use by over 2,000 students and staff. In addition, we manage servers and technology peripherals such as SmartBoards, printers, and scanners. All students utilize technology within their academic and elective classes, and the district offers advanced classes in Computer Science, Business, and Industrial Technology/Engineering. In addition to my technology work, I am also a certified teacher of Business Education, and have taught elective classes at both the middle school and the high school. Take a look at my links for information about some of the courses I have taught.

Recent Technology Initiatives:
Many new district initiatives have taken off during the past year. Here are some of the highlights:

New Website: The current website went live in the Summer of 2009, and received some modest aesthetic design changes in the Fall of 2010. The new site has expanded the ability for teachers and other staff to post and update web content. We hope to continue to enhance our communication between parents, students, and the school district. As part of the webmaster team, I provide training and support, as well as manage district and school homepages.
SkillsTutor: 7th and 8th grade students will be using this product as part of Language Arts and Math classes to identify basic skills that they may need to work on and provide instruction and activities in those areas. I will be helping to coordinate the use of this product, as well as provide training and support when needed.
Smart Boards: The district has purchased over 20 new SmartBoard interactive whiteboards over the last year. Throughout the year, I will be assisting teachers in using these boards to their full potential.
CasperSuite & Mac OS X Server: These products enable the district's technology staff to more effectively manage district computers with regards to setup & installation, maintenance, updates, and inventory. During this past summer, I played a major role in setting up these products. I will continue to manage and make improvements to this system as the school year unfolds.
Synergy: This product allows students and staff to save work they do in school securely on the internet and retrieve it from home, or vise versa. Many students are already taking advantage of this web application.
Assist: Assist enables teachers and other staff to put in a request for maintenance or technology support, and for the maintenance and technology staff to stay organized.

Professional Development:
I facilitate staff development workshops on most of the staff in-service days. Some possible topics include Infinite Campus, Microsoft Office, and Synergy.

Need Help:
Staff are encouraged to use Assist to put in technology support requests that are not crucial in nature. For immediate help, call one of the technology managers and we will make our best effort to solve the problem quickly.
