DEPARTMENTAL PHILOSOPHY

The Science Department of Warren Hills Regional Schools recognizes the importance of a basic science education. The continual interplay of economics, politics, public health, environmental issues, scientific technology, and scientific research make it increasingly necessary for all individuals to acquire basic scientific understanding. Only with this understanding can they expect to live prudently and be expected to participate fully and responsibly in the local, national and international decision-making processes.

In addition to providing a basic scientific understanding for all Warren Hills graduates, the science department acknowledges the responsibility to prepare, to the greatest extent possible, those students planning a career in scientific or scientifically related fields.

Finally, it is our goal to keep our curriculum rigorous and current with respect to new developments in the fields of science and education.

The following general objectives apply to all science students and are in accordance with, and an extension of, the NJ State Core proficiencies. Course specific objectives are referenced in individual course syllabi.
