The Blue Note - April 2008
The BLUE NOTE is the official newsletter of the Warren Hills Regional High School Band which is sent to all members of the Middle School and Senior High School Concert Bands. The information provided within will serve to both remind and inform the parents and students of upcoming events so that conflicts in family scheduling may be avoided. As you will see, the band members have a wide variety of musical activities available to them throughout the year.

Perform! Perform! Perform!
Blue Streak Marching Band
In a very short time, we’ll be back in the swing of preparing for the upcoming season. Our show next season will be the “Music of Danny Elfman”. The selections include music from “Spiderman - Tales from the Crypt”, “the Nightmare Before Christmas”, and “Ice Dance”, the main theme from Beetlejuice. Great stuff!!!!
Band Camp will be held from Monday, August 18 through Friday the 22nd at the high school football field. As this is a change in our normal routine, plans are being formulated by Mr. Yaremczak and Mrs. Young to make this a memorable experience. Basically, we will be operating as most high school marching bands do in the pre-season, working at the school, learning the show and music, and building comradierie through a singular sense of purpose. Our goal is to present the audience with the finest performance possible while having fun doing it!!
Come join us in an activity that is a wonderful blend of hard work and fun, one that will make your time at the high school filled with fond memories for a lifetime.
Jazz Ensemble
The Jazz Ensemble has been hard at work, every Wednesday night, since the middle of October. Our selections have included famous works such as Oloe, Begin the Beguine, In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning, and In Wlked Bud. To date, we’ve had three performances, one at our annual “Prism Concert”, “A Night of Jazz”, and another at a Festival hosted by West Morris Mendham High School. We took two of the top honors for the evening. One for the ”Best Trombone Section”, and one for the “Best Rhythm Section”. Our next competition will be at Hershey Park on May 16. If you haven’t hbad the opportunity to catch a performance of the band, we are planning a final performance at the annual “Sing N Swing” on May 28 at the high school. We hope you’ll join us for some great sounds!

Concert Band
Recently, we completed one hectic month, our version of MARCH MADNESS. Three weeks, three performances, beginning with our annual “Prism Concert".
As expected, the various ensembles treated the audience to a wonderful evening of music. Rehearsing music, planning themes, decorations, producing programs, etc., the student run project was a huge success. Besides the great performance, the students were able to raise enough money towards their trip to Hershey Park to cut the cost by $12. for each member attending. GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!!!
As we are rapidly approaching the end of the school year, the Concert Band is in the midst of preparing the third and final concert of the year as well as their trip to Hershey Park. Again, the music is proving to be challenging and worthwhile. Mostly, Senioritis hasn’t set in yet! Cool weather does help.
Look below for the performance schedule for the remainder of the school year. Please mark the dates on your calendar. We all enjoy and perform better to a full house.
