National Honor Society Interested Students: If you are interested in joining the NHS, please download and complete this form with information about your participation in other activities and community service. The National Honor Society was created by the National Association of Secondary Principals in 1921 and has become a prestigious organization designed to recognize outstanding secondary school students throughout the country in both private and public institutions. A charter governs the organization and each participating school forms its own chapter and writes its own, local guidelines, in accordance with national rules. The Warren Hills Chapter of the National Honor Society considers students for induction once a year. To be eligible for consideration for induction into the Warren Hills Chapter of the National Honor Society, a student must have been in attendance at the school the equivalent of one semester. This regulation may be waived with the recommendation of the principal of the candidate’s previous school. Students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.4 to be considered for induction. These grades are provided to the advisor by the Guidance Department during the first marking period at the close of the previous school year. All students meeting this academic requirement will be asked to complete a student profile. A committee of five faculty members will thoroughly review each profile to nominate students to the chapter. Nominations will be based on qualities of leadership, service, scholarship, and character as delineated in the student profile. The advisor does not vote on nominations, but acts as an advocate for each student being considered. Nominations are made by a majority vote of the faculty committee.
