The Arts Symposium is an annual experience for students grade seven through twelve. The program is open to any student who has an interesting the arts or a desire to work directly with artists in a multidisciplinary atmosphere.
Workshops in areas such as mime, creative writing, dance, visual arts, drama and music are conducted by professionals from metropolitan and outlying areas. over the years, students have raved about the quality of these professionals as they take student-generated materials and create impromptu, but exceptional, performances. students are scheduled for these workshops based on self-identification with their major interest during the first time period.
Since the programs inception, we have explored many topics, including The Renaissance, The medieval Period, the Wild West, opposites, and the 1930's.
We encourage former horizons students attending college to offer their services as facilitators, thus giving our students more of a peer teacher relationship which encourages student creativity.
Students interest in the Arts Symposium has grown to an annual enrollment of approximately 60 to 75 students.
