A Message from the Principal

Dear Students and Parents:

Welcome back to the 2007 - 2008 school year. A special welcome to our future graduating class of 2011. This year will be a most exciting year at our high school. By January, we will be ready to occupy Phase 1 of our construction project. This will open up our new cafeteria, Athletic Trainer Clinic, a new weight training room, aerobics/wrestling room, locker rooms, and an auxiliary gym.

With this phase occupied, we will begin our internal renovations. Our current auxiliary gym will be converted to the new Elizabeth Ames Library. Our current weight room/aerobics and Athletic Trainer area will be converted to nine new classrooms. Our current cafeteria will house three new science classrooms and an agricultural greenhouse. A new chemistry lab will be created and renovations to our auditorium will be completed which includes production lighting, upgraded sound system, and air conditioning.

Subsequent phases to our project will see the addition of a fine arts suite of classes, renovations to current science labs, and an upgraded security system.

Across Jackson Valley Road from the high school will see the construction of tennis courts and an additional practice field. This area is separate from our construction project.

Our most recent test scores confirm that our students are achieving in line with the expectations of No Child Left Behind. In order to continue and even enhance our success, our focus for staff will be a three pronged approach to learning. Curriculum Mapping will layout both yearly and monthly instructional plans. A variety of teaching strategies will be utilized in order to reach all learners. Using a data warehouse of test scores will assist the classroom teacher to reach the needs of students in their individual classrooms.
