Department of Fine Arts  *

7040 Art & Graphics (half year grades 7-8)
This course consists of an introduction to two and three dimensional design. Projects will be created from a variety of mediums. Students will gain a fundamental knowledge of tools and methods. Career awareness is also emphasized.

7350 Chorus (full year grades 7-8)
Chorus is a regularly scheduled middle school and high school class open to all vocalists. The Chorus studies various representative styles of vocal music and performs a minimum of one concert during the school year. Other performances may be scheduled for school assemblies and local community groups.


7450 Beginning Instrumental (full year grades 7-8)
Beginning Instrumental is a regularly scheduled middle school course that provides musical opportunities for students with little or no previous training. Rudimentary instruction in instrumental technique is provided for most band instruments. Performance opportunities may be made available at the discretion of the instructor.


7480 Concert Band (full year grades 7-8)
Concert Band is a regularly scheduled middle school class open to all qualified players of band instruments. (Students must demonstrate a two year proficiency or successful completion of the Beginning Instrumental course.) The band performs a minimum of one concert during the school year. Members of the middle school stage band are selected from this group.


7700 Introduction to the Performing Arts (half year grades 7-8)
This course is designed to provide middle school students the opportunity of developing creative thought processes through practical exposure to music, art, theater, and dance. High level applications of observation, divergent thinking, analysis, synthesis, and reflection are pursued through individual and integrated arts experiences.
