8650 Technology Lab (half year grades 7&8)
This course introduces students to the fundamentals and basic concepts of design and problem solving. Students will be exposed to hand and power tools in order to build models that will represent solutions to a given problem. The class will emphasize accurate documentation through written explanation, measuring, sketching and drawing skills. Computer controlled kits may be used to support these concepts. Career awareness is also addressed in this course.
8660 Introduction To Film Design (half year grades 7&8)
Film design is a project-intensive class with a focus on the three major stages of film production: preproduction, production, and post. Students gain industry knowledge ranging from how to write a proper movie review, to basic editing. The course utilizes DVD special features to expand upon important subject matter. Film design also highlights some of cinemas turning points in history, from the early days in the Edison studios to the digital revolution occurring today. Group work plays the central role in class, but students also learn to research and develop work by themselves.
