"Zach Fisher should take up baseball.  After all, he’s batting 1.000 -- but in the pole vault pit. Pole, bat, what’s the difference, right?Fisher, in his third season as the pole vault coach at Warren Hills, and he has two charges this spring -- seniors Emma Mele and Nic Read. Just two athletes.  And both are going to the NJSIAA Meet of Champions, Saturday (noon) at Frank Jost Field in South Plainfield (NOT at South Plainfield HS, by the way)."

Second, they both plan careers in working to help people and make them better. Mele will attend DeSales University on a five-year program to be a physician’s assistant and Read is off to Nazareth College in Rochester, N.Y. for a six-year program to become a physical therapist.

“Regardless of what happens at the Meet of Champions, I am most proud of both of them maintaining high levels of scholarship and competing at a high level, and both going on to the next level,” said Fisher, who also coaches JV soccer and is the varsity wrestling assistant at Warren Hills.

  • WH in the News - Lou Fofanna surprises everyone with his speed

Posted by Christina Page on 6/10/2021

Bob Carroll needed just one look to see how special Lossenie Fofana could be at track and field.

“When Lou (Fofana’s nickname) was in eighth grade, he ran a 200 (meter dash) in basketball sneakers and ran 24.9,” the Warren Hills head track and field coach said. “I said to myself, ‘This kid is a Division I athlete’.”
