  • WH in the News - Field Hockey Rankings and Player of the week

Posted by Christina Page on 10/22/2020

LehighValleyLive has ranked the Warren Hills Field Hockey team #2 and Junior Maddie Summit was named player of the week for October 5-11.

Jr. FWD Maddie Summitt, Warren Hills

Summitt has been very consistent as the Blue Streaks have hammered opponents. She had seven goals and four assists in victories over Montgomery, Bridgewater and Phillipsburg.

    Record: 7-0.

Rundown: Warren Hills is another powerhouse program with a wealth of returning talent as the Blue Streaks brought back eight starters from their 2019 campaign.

Warren Hills has outscored opponents 42-2 through its opening seven victories, with the help of stifling play from its defense (senior Liz Schlaffer, junior Emily Dvorsky and senior Kylie Compton). The Blue Streaks are also loaded with capable scorers: junior Maddie Summitt (12 goals this season), and seniors Juliana Valli (eight goals), Simryn Desai (seven goals), Jenna Wyckoff (seven goals), Ashley Moskal (four goals) and Sarah Korczukowski (three goals).

“Our team has been playing together for a long time, so the chemistry is a definite advantage for us,” coach Josie Potter said before the season opened in New Jersey. “We are also extremely versatile in our ability to play multiple positions.”

    4-Warren Hills (6-0) | Last rank: 5

Warren Hills has now shut out its last four opponents, including a 3-0 win over Ridge and a 5-0 win over Watchung Hills this past week. Jenna Wykoff and Juliana Valli were the big offensive contributors for a Warren Hills team that’s moved up a second spot in as many weeks. Two games with North Hunterdon loom large on the schedule, but right now Warren Hills looks like one of the truly elite teams in the state.
