    Quotation writing can be difficult, but when you write a Narrative Story, it is important to include them.  Dialogue helps the reader understand how characters communicate with each other within your story.  Dialogue helps to develop the conflict of the story and brings your characters to life for the readers enjoyment.

    Simple Quotation Use

    "I need some cookies," Mary pleaded.
    Mary pleaded, "I need some cookies."

    Mother laughed then said, "Sorry, dear."
    Mother said, "Sorry, we dont have any cookies."

    "Mary," Mother said, "we do have cupcakes."

    "I want cupcakes," Mary declared. "May I have some right now?"

    Yes, you can have them after dinner, Mom replied.
