We continued exploring our early democracy by continuing prep for a mock constitutinal convention.  To that end, we finished teaching each other about our respective backgrounds (in a speed dating style format) and began our final caucus (i.e. drafting resolutions).  We will finish the final caucus next class and will begin the convention.

HW by 10/9 - Complete the Anti-Federalist Lessons portion of the Federalists vs Anti-Federalists Packet.

We viewed Foner Podcat 6.2 for the do now (located on the textbook website).  We then continued prep for a mock constitutinal convention.  To that end, the groups had some time to refresh their memory of their respective backgrounds and began teaching each other about their respective backgrounds (in a speed dating style format).  We were able to get to the first 3 speed dating style teaching sessions.  We will finish the teaching speed dating style sessions next class, and the final causus will begin (i.e. groups will draft resolutions for the convention).

We viewed Foner Podcat 6.1 for the do now.  We then began exploring our early democracy by beginning prep for a mock constitutinal convention.  To that end, we split into groups, with each group becoming a social background (that was not really present at the actual convention).  To access the doc used in class click here.  We were able to complete steps 1-3 (that means the we read the cover page and the "Burning Issues" page, split into pairs, and each pair was able to read their background for about 5 minutes).  Next class, you will have time to further research your background and we will then begin step 4 (i.e. teach each other about the assigned backgrounds).

You are to begin several video quizzes about the US Constitution. You will begin these in class today, and finish next class.  You need to use a hard copy (found in the back of your textbook that is located in the back of the classroom) or an online version of the US Constitution.  I urge you to use this one becuse the Article, Section, and Clause appear on the screen when you hold the cursor over the text.  Each video quiz begins with a short instructional video.  I also suggest, in class, jotting down your responses to any quiz that you are completing near the end of the period because you can not start in the middle of the quiz next class.
