Superintendent’s Update
October 2019
Dear Warren Hills Community,
The Superintendent’s Update will be posted monthly and will provide our community with information on district initiatives and events occurring within the Warren Hills Regional School District.
Important Information on District Initiatives:
We are preparing to test run our new Blackboard Mass Notification System. The Blackboard Mass Notification system will be our primary tool for communicating school events, school closings and emergency notifications. Test Messages will be sent from the district and buildings on the dates and times listed below utilizing phone, text, and email. If you do not receive the Test Messages, please contact the district technology office via email at technology@warrenhills.org. Please allow emails from blackboard@warrenhills.org to prevent our email messages from being routed to your spam folder. Thank you in advance for your kind attention and cooperation.

On Friday, October 11, we will send an email with a temporary password to log into the Mass Notification site (and mobile app when available) to set your contact preferences. The Mass Notification site can be accessed at https://warrenhills.parentlink.net. You can set your contact preferences by clicking on Account at the top right of the website (in the dark navigation bar), select the Delivery Preferences tab, and utilize the checkboxes to select your delivery methods.
We will also have a district branded mobile app that will allow you to receive push notifications and update your contact preferences. Information and Test Messages sent through the app will be sent once the app has been approved by Google Play and Apple’s App Store.
Our 1:1 take home laptop initiative is off and running very well. Our students are coming prepared with charged laptops and are utilizing them in an effective manner. We are seeing a number of students removing the district issued protective case from their laptops. We ask that you please remind your children to utilize their Chromebook case as an important protective measure, as damage sustained without the case may be categorized as intentional and students may be held financially responsible. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
On Tuesday, October 29th, Warren Hills Regional Middle School will be hosting a parenting event "Hidden in Plain Sight" in the WHRMS gymnasium. This important presentation allows parents and guardians the opportunity to view a mock child's bedroom to identify and examine paraphernalia and hiding places along with other signs that may indicate alcohol or drug use by a teen. Light refreshments will be available starting at 6:30 with the presentation beginning at 7:00.
