Warren Hills Regional School District Department of Social Studies   Mr. Keith Dennison Department Supervisor 908.689.3143, ext. 1007 dennisonk@warrenhills.org   Department Philosophy   The Social Studies Department is committed to preparing students for college, career,and civic life through the study of a broad range of social sciences.  Warren Hills’ students gain an appreciation and understanding of our global and national heritage through the required five course sequence of world and United States history. Through these courses students come to understand how history, economics, politics, governments, and geography influenced the development of human settlements and great nations.  Multiple sources and perspectives are infused in the curriculum to allow for deep and rich analysis of themes and events in all of the social studies disciplines.  Our required sequence is complemented by a selection of interesting and exciting elective courses.  Upon completion of the social studies program,students are poised to become active and informed citizens.  In addition to instruction in the social sciences, students will regularly engage in refining their reading, writing, listening, speaking and communication skills. They will develop discipline specific vocabulary for the social sciences.  The Social Studies Department curriculum infuses technological tools where appropriate in order to prepare students to responsibly use and create digital media.   Gilder Lehrman Affiliate Schools    Warren Hills Regional Middle School and High School are proudly affiliated with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.  With this affiliation our teachers and students have access to tens of thousands of digitized resources related to the development of the United States, and our teachers have access to top notch professional development related to social studies education, American history, and writing for the social sciences discipline.    Social Studies Department by School   Teachers can be emailed by clicking on a name on the list to the right.
