I am truly so blessed to think that I will be starting my thirtieth year of teaching this year! My name is Mrs. Jacqueline LaFrance and for the past sixteen glorious years, I have been a teacher at Warren Hills Middle School.  I knew I wanted to be a teacher since I was five years old. From the very first day I walked through those doors, I have loved this school dearly, and this school has loved me right back! Change can be overwhelming sometimes. I understand this because before I came to Warren Hills Middle School, I proudly and successfully taught Kindergarten! Although I loved teaching such eager and adorable little people, in my heart, I always knew the possibilities of joyful experiences I would find teaching Language Arts to middle school students.

About eighteen years ago, I moved to Washington, New Jersey and started my journey at Warren Hills Middle School in the very town for which I love to live. I am happily married to someone absolutely spectacular. My husband Ron grew up in the beautiful state of Maine, but left his home state to have an extensive career as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. We visit Maine often and love it very much. Sometimes I say, “Sergeant LaFrance, yes sir!” and call him “Sergeant Fix It”. Our beautiful three year old Chocolate Labrador named Sweetie is the love of our lives and the center of our universe. Growing up, I attended Immaculate Conception Grade School and then Immaculata High School in Somerville, New Jersey. While in school, I was voted May Queen which was such an honor for me. I graduated from New Jersey City University with a degree in English and Secondary Education. I continued my education at Centenary College to complete the program for special education certification.

In my free time, I love to go boating and catch with release fishing, especially at my little cottage home in Lake Ontario. Flowers are my speciality. I won the Warren County Beautification Award a few years ago. I was so proud of myself!  I love watching Yankees baseball and NCAA college basketball. Back in the day, I was a pretty good player. Last I checked, I can still make a three point shot! Also, I was a college cheerleader, and I really know how to use my energy and enthusiasm.

People always tell me that I smile all the time, and I do! I love people, and I love teaching. Growing up, mean people told me to stop smiling so much. Well, I am glad I didn't listen to mean people. I believe in having a  “Can do!” attitude. I have learned that positive thinking will get positive results especially when combined with hard work. I know that positive energy is contagious and helps students through difficult times, so you will see it often. I enjoy being with people who find positive attributes in others. I also feel safe with people who have kind thoughts. It saddens me greatly when people disrespect the earth with littering. I think that maybe someone needs to teach those people how to garden. I do my greatest justice in this world at this very school. It is where I shine the greatest, and my hope for all of you to shine the greatest here too!

Sincerely,

Mrs. LaFrance
