School Based Counseling

Dear Parents,

I am the director of the School Based Youth Services Programs (SBYSP) at Warren Hills and I am writing to let you know about our counseling services that are currently available to your children. SBYSP offers confidential individual and group-based mental health counseling at no charge to Warren Hills students. Family counseling is also available, and parents may speak directly with one of our therapists for a brief consultation regarding the emotional and behavioral well-being of your children. Our licensed clinicians are mostly counseling by televideo these days, but arrangements can be made to hold an initial intake session in-person at our high school location.

Here at School Based we believe that we are all people in a complex world, doing our best, with what skills and resources we have available. Receiving extra support and coaching can help you make positive changes. At SBYSP we have the privilege to provide that support to the Warren Hills students and families.

If your Warren Hills student appears to be struggling with; anxiety, depression, social conflict, family conflict, grief and loss or any other common emotional challenges, please consider School Based counseling as part of your strategy for helping them through it. Call me directly at 908-689-3050 x3618 or start the conversation by emailing to learn more about our services.

If you are wondering “what exactly is SBYSP?”, let me explain. The SBYSPs at Warren Hills, Middle and High Schools, are a 20 year old collaboration between the NJ Department of Children and Families (our funding source), the Family Guidance Center of Warren County (the contracted service provider and our employer) and WHRSD (our host). In addition to counseling services we provide recreational and enrichment activities, learning support, prevention programming, leadership development, pre-vocational skill building/ career exploration, and informal mentoring by staff.

Thank you for taking the time to read my message. We look forward to hearing from you.
