Further Update from the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE)
Grade 11 State Assessment Requirement for Class of 2019 and 2020
March 22, 2019
Dear Warren Hills School Community,
There has been additional guidance from the NJDOE’s Office of Assessments regarding grade 11 high school graduation state assessment requirements in NJSLA-English Language Arts (ELA) 11 and NJSLA-Math in Algebra I, Algebra II, or Geometry for the graduating class of 2019 and 2020. If your child is in grade 11 and he/she has not met the graduation requirement by meeting one of the NJDOE state assessments pathways, one of the following options is available:
- Students in grade 11 who have already met the high school graduation state assessment requirements in ELA and mathematics are not required to take state assessments in ELA and mathematics in spring 2019
- Students in grade 11 who have not yet met their graduation assessment requirements are not required to, but may take the NJSLA-ELA 11 or NJSLA-Math in Algebra I, Algebra II, or Geometry
- Students in grade 11 who have not yet met their graduation assessment requirements may access the additional graduation assessment requirement pathways outlined in the New Jersey High School Assessment Graduation Requirements
- Students in the graduating class of 2019 and 2020 are not required to take all PARCC/NJSLA assessments before being able to access the second or third pathway to meet their graduation assessments requirement.
If your grade 11 child has not met the NJDOE state assessment requirements, and if you prefer your grade 11 child to meet the graduation assessment requirement through the spring 2019 NJSLA ELA and/or NJSLA-Math, please contact your child’s guidance counselor or child study team member by April 1, 2019. Thank you for your review of the latest NJDOE Office of Assessment information and your continued flexibility.
